The novel is about the struggle and the control of the Tybium ore. It is found only in two places of the world and it is the most sought after catalyst to produce Bentine, a clean and efficient energy source.
While Ben Neidermeier lived in Austria, he met General Tom Wagner from the Consolidated North American States. The general helped him to migrate to the CNAS. In return, Neidermeier committed to work for the general the rest of his life, doing mostly covert work, including murder.

The man assumed a tense position, ready for action. Ben recalled his karate lessons. All his muscles tensed up and his body was in a state of increased awareness. The man reached inside his coat pocket and pulled out a gun. When Ben saw this, he reached for his harpoon, ripped it from the front of his leg, dove forward and while he was airborne, he aimed the harpoon it the direction of the man and fired it. At the same instant, the man fired his pistol. Ben dove forward and that saved his life. The bullet flew by Ben's head and creases his ear. The man, however, wasn't that lucky. The harpoon curved toward the man at a velocity of 3,950 feet per second, armed with a heat-sensing cell, and found its way to the man's warmest part of his body — his heart. Ben's father designed the point of the harpoon to afflict maximum damage and he made it from a stainless steel alloy. First, it it cut three of the man's ribs in front of the heart, with a saw-like action. Then it penetrated into the heart, splitting open three of the four chambers. The fourth chamber was still pumping blood. This precious liquid exited the man's body, about one foot up, with every beat of the heart. By the time Ben rose to approach the man, he was dead and blood stopped flowing ….
