Arnold J. Inzko:  From Gunsmith to Sci-fi Writer

The Website, www.ferlach.at, was helpful again.  We came across another contact:  a short time ago, a person at the town’s office received an E-mail message from the USA.  It was from a person born in Ferlach and who lived a full life, first in England and then in the USA.  He bridged many stations in life.  He was born on 10-6-1932 in the old house of Freibacherstrasse.  That’s where he grew up and between 1946 and 1950, he attended the gunsmith school as it was in those days.  After school, he stayed in Ferlach for two years, working his craft.

In 1952 he left Ferlach and moved to London, England, working as gunsmith.  Then he migrated to the USA.  He spent two years in the American Army and then he continued his education.  The knowledge that he gained, attending the gunsmith school, was invaluable in his quest to earn a degree in mechanical engineering.  After working in various companies, he retired.  Then he obtained a teaching job at the South Hills School of Business and Technology in Pennsylvania.  He taught drafting, CNC, machine tool programming and metrology.

While in the Army and at the University he played soccer.  Later, he took up fly fishing, a challenging sport.  According to his evaluation, he did not perform his sports activities on the same level as Arnold Schwarzenegger.  On the other hand, he does speak better English.

In 2001, he started a new calling:  Arnold Inzko was writing seven science fiction novels, some of which are in their second edition.  Presently, he is writing a novel, called Unlawful Justice, dealing with white slavery.

He enjoys thinking about his school years in Ferlach and particularly about Director Victor Landerl who gave the gun smith school a new impetus.

In the meantime, we exchanged E-mail messages between Ferlach and Williamsburg.  Arnold Inzko writes in English and I write in German.  He said that he did not speak German since he left Ferlach, but he understands everything.
